SPECIAL FEATURES

Sunset View On Stoney Lake is 20 minutes north of Peterborough or 10 minutes east of Lakefield. It is 90 minutes from Toronto. Stony Lake is part of the Trent Severn Waterway System and is directly attached to Clear Lake. The location of the cottage is close to where Stoney meets Clear Lake so that when you look out from the cottage you see Stoney Lake and it's abundance of spotted islands, and to the left the open waters of Clear Lake. The cottage itself sits on a large flat lot and location is perfect and very safe for small children. Sitting around the large fire pit in the evenings is a fun social treat for both kids and adults. The large sand play area is a main feature of the cottage exterior, with shade and sun alike. There is plenty of area to build sand villages, as well as plenty of room for adult Muskoka chairs to sit around and enjoy the kids playing. From this location the view of the lake is breathtaking.

INTERIOR DESCRIPTION This is a very spacious clean and updated cottage with approximately 1150 square feet of living space. The cottage sleeps 7/8 comfortably. There is new hardwood flooring throughout the majority of the cottage, with tile in the newly renovated washroom and mud/laundry room. The laundry room provides a second entrance into the cottage, a newer stackable full size washer and dryer as well as storage space for coolers, drinks, etc. The vaulted cathedral ceiling makes the dining area and family room very spacious. It has a Muskoka-style ceiling fan/light and a full wall with 25' of extended windows to enjoy the view. There is an additional room off of the kitchen that is used as an added media/play room with games, TV. with ps2, video games, movies, books, a couch, coffee table and large chair. There are three large bedrooms (queen bed, double bed, and the kid's room has a double/twin bunk and another twin bed). The newly renovated bathroom has a large double glass/tile shower area, new toilet and vanity. The family room has two couches, chair, rug, tables, stereo, DVD player, movies, etc. We have Bell Satellite. Cell phone reception is excellent. The White large kitchen allows for plenty of room for prepping food and has lots of cupboards, an extra-large full-length pantry, plenty of counter space, and a double sink. The fridge and freezer have ample room for all your food/beverages. There is a dug well but feel free to bring your own drinking water. The cottage temperature inside is quite cool due to the number of windows, shade from trees and the fact that we face north west and almost always seem to have a breeze.

(Propane is on the honour system. I have 2 tanks with one of them full as a standby. If you are using the BBQ and the tank runs out you can simply switch to the full standby tank. At your earliest convenience, I ask that you go into Lakefield and fill up the tank that is now empty. In that way no one is left without propane at anytime. I hope that this system works for you!)

EXTERIOR DESCRIPTION
The property is very child-friendly (flat) with a large front yard, backyard and a small forested area to explore in the back. From the side entrance, there is a large 450 sq. ft. wrap-around deck that is great for entertaining. At the shallow water's entrance there is a large sand beach play area that is framed in armour stone. The water entrance is ideal for young kids because it is shallow. It is primarily hard sand with mixed rock. After approximately 20 feet out, it does get mushier and weeds do grow as the summer progresses. Maximum depth is approx. 3-3.5 feet off the end of the dock. The dock area has a ramp and a 16 foot stable dock system. Fishing from the dock is successful, and normal types of fish caught are perch, small and large mouth bass, crappie, sunfish and walleye. The total width of the property is 100 feet, and at the far right there is a sandy area to slide the paddleboat, sit-on kayak or canoe up onto shore. There is privacy from our friendly neighbours, with many trees and shady spots out front. The view of the spotted islands out front is spectacular, and as the sun sets, one of your favourite times to remember will surely be, you on the deck having dinner or sharing a glass of wine watching the sun set directly out front. The cottage sits just 50 feet from the shoreline. The new armour stone firepit sits close to the water and we supply cut firewood (within reason). If you know the lake well, we are also renting our 16 ft, 40 H.P. bowrider. Ask for details. If you would like to bring your own boat, we have space on the one side of our dock, and we have a boat launch on the property. There are three main marinas close to our cottage that you will have quick access to. (McCracken's Landing, Kawartha Marina and Carveth's Marina). We have plenty of room for you to store your boat trailer during your stay. There are floating toys and noodles in the shed that you may use during your stay. We also have a croquet set, and badminton net with rackets set up. Two kid swings out front are a definite hit with children. The Weber BBQ located on the deck is large and there will be a propane gas tank for you to enjoy during your stay.
