A cozy, waterfront cottage that sleeps 9, consisting of 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. This chalet style, welcoming retreat is ideal for up to two families or couples. Its sandy waterfront faces south for all day sunshine with excellent swimming. Gradual slope to waterfront, shallow off the dock (7 feet). Jordan Lake is very private with minimal motorboat activity. NO PARTIES OR EVENTS PLEASE.

INTERIOR DESCRIPTION

Pine ceilings on the main floor, cedar ceilings on the 2nd floor, 1 ceiling fan in the living room and 1 ceiling fan in the master bedroom, kitchen table comfortably seats 6 people.

Cottage water: filtered in from the lake – not potable but is safe to use to wash dishes, bath and brush your teeth. Fresh spring water and dispenser are provided.

Kitchen details: microwave, coffee maker, toaster, crock pot, juicer, blender and water cooler

Indoor entertainment: board games, books, cards, puzzles, DVD and CD player, HDTV, satellite TV, home theatre system and stereo music player

EXTERIOR DESCRIPTION

The property has a gradual slope to the waterfront and is both child and elderly friendly. There are 3-4 parking spots. There is a good sized dock and deck on the waterfront. There is also a large deck with a connected screened in gazebo off the kitchen and living area of the cottage. It’s a shallow sandy entry from the shoreline and about 7 feet deep off the dock. Diving is not recommended. There is 171 feet of shoreline with a sandy beach area on the waterfront for children to play in. There is also a swing on the shoreline and a tire swing and wooden fort with a slide a little further in on the property for kids to enjoy. It is great swimming on a shallow lake. The deepest area of the lake is approximately 25 feet with few weeds. Water shoes are suggested. Water toys, a canoe, 2 kayaks and a paddleboat are provided for the renter’s enjoyment – use at own risk. The cottage is very private and faces south for all day sun!

Looking out to the lake from the shoreline: to the right of the dock it is weedy with lily pads and a rocky bottom. To the left of the dock is the open swimming area and entry to the lake. This area is weed free and has a sandy bottom. It is very accessible to all including children. Depth starts at the ankles and continues to get deeper as you walk out on a sandy floor.

ACTIVITIES NEARBY

There are many hiking trails close to the cottage. A walking trail is located just northeast of 53 N. Jordan Lake Rd. This is a free trail that is shared with snowmobiles and ATV’s. There are many branches on this trail, some leading to the highway, some back to Jordan Lake or simply hours of walking. The trails are not marked. Beginner level.

There is a general store called Trudy’s (5 min north on Hwy 62) where you can find water, basic groceries, firewood, propane, beer, liquor and gas. Empty beer and liquor bottles can be returned to this location as well.

If you decide to make the drive into Bancroft (25 min north on Hwy 62), you will find a wide variety of amenities such as: Beer store, LCBO (liquor store), Canadian Tire, Tim Horton’s, McDonald’s, No Frills, Foodland, TD Bank, Shopper’s Drug mart, Dollar Store, Home Hardware, and Dairy Queen. Don’t forget to visit Kawartha Dairy for the best ice cream!

Great property, great location, we’d love to come back. We had a group of seven stay for a long weekend in the fall. We really enjoyed the property, firepit, access to kayaks, walking up the road, the layout of the cottage, ability to use the wood stove. Some of us swam (yes, we swam in October and it was pretty cold) and those who did appreciated that you could jump off the dock in to deep water.
